By series
Pierrots
The clown who never speaks, painted again and again. Anahita's Pierrots rest, wait and watch in loose white costume and ruffled collar, set against teal and grey grounds that hold the room's own quiet.
Portraits
People painted from close attention. Anahita paints friends, family and strangers who caught her eye, keeping the specific rather than the flattering.
Figures and nudes
The body at rest and in reverence. Anahita's figure paintings hold weight, weather and warmth, framed as she found them and given room to breathe against dark grounds.
Seascapes
Blue-hour seas painted for weather and what they carry. Anahita gives the sky as much attention as the water, and the wave crests do the drawing.
The Simorgh
Paintings of the Simorgh, the great benevolent bird of Persian legend, descending over red hills, meeting a fish, filling a sky with feathers.
Persian scenes
Courtyards, samovars, tiled light and remembered rooms: the Tehran of her childhood, painted from Surrey.
Night skies
Deep cobalt, a paler cloud, a moon that carries the light. Anahita paints the night the way a quiet person listens: with attention rather than drama.
Still life
Flowers, glass, cloth: the studio's own table, painted for the pleasure of it. Sunflowers and roses recur, set against warm ochres and quiet greens.
Landscapes
Fields, hills, quiet water. Anahita's landscapes hold the same warmth she gives to a face: painted from walking, remembering and looking out of a window in Surrey.
Abstracts
Looser paintings, closer to imagination than observation. Fantasy figures, colour fields, night gardens where the figures might be creatures or dreams.
Animals and birds
Cats, dogs and cockerels painted with the same close attention she gives a face: the house cat on its cushion, a cockerel on a bare branch, two dogs at the fence.
Murals and painted panels
Paintings made straight onto wood: a lotus on pine cladding, a cockerel on a shed wall. The grain shows through the colour and becomes part of the design.
