Cats, dogs and cockerels painted with the same close attention she gives a face: the house cat on its cushion, a cockerel on a bare branch, two dogs at the fence.
Anahita paints animals the way she paints people, from character outwards. A cat is never generic: it is this cat, with this ruff and this particular look. The cockerels are painted for their colour, comb and tail catching the light, and the dogs for the way they wait.
Many of these began as gifts for the families who own the animals, which is why so many are portraits in the true sense. Pet portraits are still among the most requested commissions.
