Accessibility

What we aim for

This is a small studio website. We build it so that it works well for people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, a switch device or voice control, and for people who prefer larger text or reduced motion.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA. We are not there on every page yet, and we are honest about that below.

What we have done

• Every artwork image carries real alternative text describing the subject, palette and medium, so a screen reader tells you what the work looks like.
• Headings follow a logical order (one H1 per page, then H2 and H3 as needed), so you can move around a page by heading.
• Every interactive element can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone. The visible focus outline is kept in place and made clear against the background.
• Colours in body text meet the AA contrast ratio against the gallery-white background.
• Text can be resized to 200 percent in the browser without content being cut off or overlapping.
• The site respects the “reduce motion” preference in your operating system; animations become simple fades.
• Layouts are mobile-friendly, with tap targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Forms have visible labels, clear error messages and no time limits.
• Any video or audio we add will carry captions and a written transcript.

What is still work in progress

• A handful of older studio photographs need better alternative text; we replace these as the works are re-photographed.
• Colour contrast on some gold-leaf caption plaques sits close to the AA threshold; we test each one and lift it where needed.
• PDF documents (for example the commission agreement) are being reworked so that headings, reading order and links are properly tagged for screen readers.
• Not every page has been tested against every assistive technology. If you use a tool that struggles here, please tell us.

How we test

• Manual keyboard walk-through of every template (home, catalogue, artwork detail, series, journal, about, checkout, contact and forms).
• Screen reader spot-checks with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and NVDA on Windows.
• Automated checks with axe DevTools and Lighthouse on every release, with issues logged and prioritised.
• Real-device checks on a small phone (390 by 844) and a laptop (1440 by 900) on every release.

We aim to reply within five working days, and to fix straightforward issues within a week. If a fix will take longer, we will tell you why and give you a realistic date.

Scope and enforcement

This statement applies to the whole of the Anahita Eastwood studio website (the current subdomain, and the main domain once it goes live).

If you are not happy with our reply, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (equalityadvisoryservice.com) can advise on your rights under the Equality Act 2010. In Northern Ireland, the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland provides the same service.
