About this work
This is a photograph of a phone gallery view, so the colours are not reliable, but the composition is worth keeping. It shows either an earlier state of the fish and phoenix picture or a companion canvas, with the phoenix banking harder to the left and the fish absent. Notice the curling white cloud that opens above the bird, a form that has been simplified in the finished version. A fresh direct photograph of the canvas should replace this before the work goes on the site.
