Portraits
People painted from close attention. Anahita paints friends, family and strangers who caught her eye, keeping the specific rather than the flattering.
The portraits are how the practice began. She started drawing at five, watching her uncle paint, and the habit of looking at a face has never gone. She paints sitters young and old, in headscarves, hats or bare-headed, in the clothes they came in; the sitter’s own colour and mood set the palette.
She works in oil on canvas for most portraits, occasionally in acrylic, and signs them at the lower right. Portrait commissions are open, and the from-price is on the commissions page.
