About this work

Two young women lie back together, sharing a private moment that Anahita has caught with the softest sepia palette. Look at how the drawing carries the picture: the tilt of one head against the raised arm of the other, and the two contrasting halos of light and dark hair. The ruffled collars and off-the-shoulder line are handled with a light, decorative touch, and the pale ground gives the whole scene the feel of an old photograph brought back to life. IMG_7091 in this same set is a tighter crop of the right-hand figure of this painting.
