About this work

This portrait is the warm sister of the black and white one. The palette is entirely tuned to copper: hair, skin, ring and lips all belonging to the same family, then set against a soft brown ground. Notice how the ring and the bracelet share the same jewelled surface, treated almost like still life within the picture. The gaze is direct and unhurried.
