About this work

This is one of the black and white portraits, quiet and cinematic. The eye works because the whole picture is a study in three greys and one black, then a single sharpened lash line and a glint on the ring. Notice how the hair does most of the composition, sweeping from top to bottom like a curtain. The mouth is half-open, on the edge of speaking.
