About this work
Two cats at the water’s edge, ears up, watching. Anahita has kept the palette cool behind them, all blue lake and quiet reeds, so the warmth of the wooden deck lifts the pair forward. Look for the tiny surfacing fish at the top left: they have seen it too. It has the feel of a page from a picture book, done in watercolour rather than paint.
