Portraits

Faces painted from close attention: sitters young and old, in headscarves and hats or bare-headed, some laughing into the wind, others quiet inside a jewelled turban. Anahita began drawing at five and the habit of looking at a face has never left her. The palette follows the sitter, warm ambers under the flute, cool copper and pearl for a listening head, cobalt and cream for a girl in lace. Most portraits are painted in oil on canvas, a few in acrylic, and each one is signed. Portrait commissions are open; the studio publishes a from-price on the commissions page.
