About this work
A single hatchling steps out onto the wet sand, tiny against the mountain of water rising behind it. Look at the wave itself: not one blue but a dozen, from pale mint at the crest to a bruised cobalt in the hollow, with sharp flecks of white where the light hits the spray. The sand carries small ridges left by the last tide, and a scatter of shell fragments the turtle is stepping over. It is a quiet picture of a large moment.
