About this work
A long pier drawn in a whisper of pencil-thin lines cuts across the middle of the water, and a low sun sinks behind it, throwing a soft glow along the horizon. Above, the sky is one uninterrupted graduation from coral to rose. A single pale bird lifts to the upper right, giving the eye somewhere to travel. It is a picture about the quality of light at the end of a warm day.
