About this work
One of Anahita’s warmest small figure pieces: a woman in her Sunday best waits inside a beach hut, and through the window the sea does the work of a whole seascape. Notice how the face is deliberately left as a pale oval, so anyone can step into the picture and become her; only the pink hat, the flowered dress and the folded hands are individual. The dark red and blue-brushed timbers of the hut set off the pink figure like a lantern, and the small red boat on the horizon rhymes quietly with the red flowers on the dress. A picture about waiting, patience, and looking out to sea.
