About this work
The face sleeps on the side of the cup: black hair, pink cheeks, red mouth, eyelids drawn in one sure black line. Behind her a yellow shooting star cuts through the sky-blue glaze. The handle is a heavy black coil, deliberately clumsy against the neatness of the drawing. It is a small, cheerful piece that belongs on a table where things are used and loved.
