About this work
A whole household kept in a single square of paint. The green door at the back is left ajar, a small towel hanging from its handle. A climbing rose runs the length of the wall in bright red, the bench beneath it holding a single fallen bloom. On the red rug, the samovar catches the light, the little pot and the tulip glass of tea already set out on the tray. It is a room without people that still feels lived in.
