About this work
A quiet winter piece. Notice how the full moon is barely there, a soft disc behind the mist, and how the trees hold the whole composition: one strong dark trunk on the left, one thin sapling far off to the right. The snow is put down in short chalky strokes rather than solid white, so the sky and ground breathe into each other. A picture about cold and stillness rather than drama.
