About this work

A macaw painted straight onto the boards of a garden shed door, wings just lifting as if it has landed a moment ago. Notice how Anahita has let the grain of the pine become the light around the bird, and how the dark branch runs off along the timbers as though it grew there. It is a small piece of theatre in the garden: a burst of red, yellow and cobalt against the honeyed wood.
