Glazed ceramic
Ceramic works, glazed and fired in Anahita's studio: hand-built heads and busts, wall reliefs of flute players and seated nudes, a coral wall of masks and garden pieces such as a blue cup with a sleeping face and a pigeon bowl with a wing. She works the clay wet, then finishes each surface in glaze after the first firing. The palette moves through cobalt, coral, blossom pinks and gold, with the modelling doing most of the storytelling. Reliefs are made for a wall; heads are cast to stand on a shelf; the garden pieces will weather in place. Every piece is one of a kind.
