About this work
A freestanding ceramic torso, hand built and finished with the deep lapis and cobalt glazes she keeps returning to. See how the figure is treated as a small canvas as well as a form: gold linework runs along the shoulders and thighs, a fine cross rests at the throat, and the hair is drawn in with the same painterly line. It has the presence of a small idol and the intimacy of a study.
