Wall reliefs

Figures pressed forward from the wall, set against textured grounds. Larger than the masks, and painted rather than fully glazed.

The reliefs sit between the masks and the freestanding heads. Each is worked flat on the bench, then modelled forward until a figure emerges from a shaped slab, then painted and sealed. The grounds are laid on in mottled washes: sea colours, weather colours, quiet fields.

Each is signed on the base. They hang on two picture hooks and weigh more than they look.
