Still life
Flowers, glass, cloth: the studio's own table, painted for the pleasure of it. Sunflowers and roses recur, set against warm ochres and quiet greens.
The still lifes are where Anahita rests and looks. Sunflowers, roses and garden cuttings come indoors and stand for a session on a shaded ground, painted with quick brush marks so the colour reads at once. The frames, when there are frames, are chosen to hold the flowers rather than compete with them.
Most are oil on canvas. Some are painted alongside the students in her weekly painting class.
