Persian scenes
Courtyards, samovars, tiled light and remembered rooms: the Tehran of her childhood, painted from Surrey.
Anahita was born in Tehran and came to England as a teenager. The Persian paintings are not documents; they are remembered light: a samovar in a courtyard, a doorway, the blue of tilework, the particular yellow of a hot afternoon.
They sit close to the portraits in feeling. Where the portraits look at a person, these look at a place that made her.
